India

Travelled over land to India in 1970-71 on a drawing expedition to record the wooden hill temples of Himachel, for Penelope Chetwode, Lady Betjeman.

Since then John has drawn in Kinnaur - North India, Rajasthan, six months in Tamil Nadu, and South India drawing Hindu Temples e.g. Vijayanagar and the Colonial Architecture of Calcutta, Madras, French Pondicherry and Danish Tranquebar.

Seven visits to Goa to draw the fine Portuguese houses.

In all over 17 visits to India to record and draw and four London exhibitions at Giles Eyre, Duke Street, St James'.

Sri Lanka: Stayed a season and drew Stupas and Sculptures from it's ancient past.

Java - Indonesia: Spent nearly a year drawing in Java - the sculptures and temples of the Central Plains and domestic Dutch Colonial / Javanese houses.

Turkey: Western, Central and Eastern Turkey.
